Brunel University: Emergency Breakdown Warning Project

Brunel University: Emergency Breakdown Warning Project

vGroup International sells hundreds of thousands of warning triangles per year and has done so for over two decades. Components in its motoring and breakdown kits as well as individual sales. The triangle is legislated by motoring authorities around the world as compulsory for carrying in motor vehicles in the case of an accident.

We chose to participate in the Impacting Business by Design (IBbD) “new programme that provides design, development and technical support to SMEs with great ideas”. Our “Emergency Breakdown Warning Project” was selected by Brunel University as a final semester project for their Masters project design students. It was an honour to be working with a prestigious university that is renowned for engineering and a great experience to have a group of highly gifted students be working on our project.

There were two phases of design, interim and final, that produced an impressive set of presentations and a wide range of differing solutions to an important everyday problem. We will be working with the winner, chosen for the simplicity and ease of her design, from September in further developing the concept and bringing it to market.

We now have a great relationship with Brunel and will be discussing future design projects with them, benefiting greatly from their students’ knowledge and forward-thinking, whilst also offering them a business in which to apply their skills.
